Ladder of customer loyalty is closely associated with relationship marketing, as it is all about the different levels of loyalty relationships customers have with businesses. Customer Loyalty ladder specifies 5 steps through which business can build up a healthy relation with customer.

Suspect: Anyone who comes across business promotion can be considered as a suspect.

Prospect: Prospects are those who have expressed genuine interest in consuming the business product or service

Customers: Those who purchase a business product or service can be grouped under the category of customers.

Clients: Clients are repeat customers who buy more than once.

Advocates: Advocates promote a product on behalf of business. One who feels happy on a product/service will do repeat purchase and recommends others too on this.
