Maruti Suzuki India will be the best-selling car model in the hatchback Swift in India with 1,60,700 units by 2020.
In 2020, Swift crossed the sales milestone of 23 lakh units since its launch in 2005. In 2010, it crossed the 5 lakh milestone, in 2013 it crossed 10 lakh and in 2016 it crossed 15 lakh, the company said in a statement.
The Suzuki Swift is a subcompact car manufactured by Maruthi Suzuki. Suzuki classifies the swift as the B-segment mark of the European singles market Isles called the Supermini. Before that, it applied the “swift” Cultus in several export markets from 1983 and became its model from 2004. The new generation Swift was introduced in 2018 at the Auto Expo.

The BS-6 variant of the Swift (ex-showroom, Delhi) is priced between Rs 5.49 lakh and Rs 8.02 lakh. It is available in 7 variants and there are 2 transmission options: Manual and AMT and 1 engine option. The Swift is powered by a 1.2 liter, four-cylinder petrol engine. It puts out 83 PS and 113 Nm and is available with a 5-speed manual and 4-AGS transmission. It has a Boot space of 268 liters and a ground clearance of 163 mm.
Swift is the best-selling premium hatchback in the country for over 15 years with over 2.3 million customers claimed by Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India.
Despite the adverse effects of COVID-19, the brand Swift sold 1,60,700 units in CY 2020, making it the leading brand in the Peking order.
The company said that more than 53 percent of Swift customers are under the age of 35, so the company will place the model as the ‘arrival of the era’ with technologically advanced features, offers for money, and sporty design. A facelifted Swift is expected to arrive in 2021.
