Maruti Suzuki India, the largest car maker in India will introduce a new version of Alto with the Alto K10 next month. This new offering fitted with automated gear shift is said to be meant to revive the growth of the company’s mini car segment.

Maruti is planning to position this new Alto K10 as a mass market product that comes outfitted with futuristic technology in order to cater to the demands of the consumers and to provide a great value for their money as well.

The upcoming Alto K10 has been developed for a cost of around Rs 200 crore that has been invested on the existing platform of the model along with counterparts owned by parent firm Suzuki Motor Corp located inJapan.

The auto gear shift (ASG) was initially a part of Celerio and the yet to be announced Alto K10 will be the second model to come with this feature. Regarding the vehicle, Maruti SuzukiIndia’s Executive Director of Marketing and Sales, RS Kalsi claimed that the Alto K10 is a significant product for the car maker and that the customers are demanding a lot from the mini car segment. They expect to benefit numerous features from a value for money offering and it is a challenge to quench their needs.

HE claimed that the Alto K10 is fuel efficient as the petrol variant is capable of delivering a mileage of 24.07 km per litre and the CNG variant is claimed to have a fuel economy of 32.26 km per kg respectively.

While Maruti will be launching six different models of the Alto K10, the ASG option is said to be a part of the top tier variant only. The pricing of the upcoming variants will be announced officially by the car maker only at the time of its launch that is slated to happen in November.

Maruti SuzukiIndiais currently struggling to a drop in its mini segment sales as the market share of Alto and WagonR have declined by 1.3 percent in April to September this fiscal year. The executive added that the drop in the mini segment sales was due to the stoppage of production of the existing variant of Alto as the new version is due for launch.
