Meera Music Celebrates Tamil New Year with Global Season 3 Launch and K-Pop Inspired Song ‘Tamil-K Gethu’

The song is composed by famous Music Director Dharan Kumar in collaboration with K-POP Singer Aoora.

Chennai, 11th April 2025: In a bold and beautiful step that redefines how tradition can travel, Meera Music, the original music platform from Meera, CavinKare’s iconic hair care brand, launches its much-awaited Season 3—this time with a global heartbeat. Staying true to its roots while embracing a broader cultural canvas, Meera Music proudly presents ‘Tamil-K Gethu’, an electrifying cross-cultural anthem composed by Tamil music director Dharan Kumar in collaboration with K-pop artist Aoora. Set to go live on YouTube from 11th April 2025, ‘Tamil-K Gethu’ is a vibrant song that explores the surprising cultural parallels between Tamil and Korean traditions—a shared reverence for classical arts, deep family bonds, traditional attire, melodious scales, and rituals rooted in respect and community

What makes this collaboration more meaningful is the surprising number of linguistic and culinary similarities between Tamil and Korean cultures—reminding us that tradition often travels further than we think. From the way tradition is preserved and passed on, to the emphasis on community, celebration, and expressive art forms, there’s a beautiful familiarity in how both societies live their heritage. Whether in the rhythms of daily life or the values they uphold, these cultural parallels form the emotional backbone of ‘Tamil-K Gethu’, making it a heartfelt tribute to two worlds that feel unexpectedly connected.

The song—written by lyricist Ku Karthik and directed by Arul—fuses K-pop’s energy with Kollywood’s soul, set in stunning Chettinadu-inspired rural backdrops. It brings together iconic cultural elements like Kolams, Bharatnatyam, Kandangi sarees, Veshtis, and traditional South Indian instruments like the Melam and Nadaswaram, alongside modern K-pop choreography and visual flair.

Meera Music Season 3 - Tamil K GethuCommenting on the occasion, Mr. Rajat Nanda, Business Head – Personal Care, CavinKare said, ““At Meera, we’ve always believed that tradition is our strength, and this collaboration is a testament to how deeply connected cultures can be—even continents apart. The shared values of Tamil and Korean heritage—like respect for elders, love for language, and cultural expression through music and dance—are at the heart of this project. With Meera Music Season 3, we’re not just taking music global, we’re taking the spirit of Tamil culture global. This is more than a song—it’s a celebration of cultural kinship.”

Commenting on the collaboration K-POP Singer Aoora said, “Tamil culture has always fascinated me—the food, the music, the warmth of the people. When I discovered how much it reminded me of my own Korean roots, I knew we had something beautiful to celebrate. This song is my tribute to that connection—where Kollywood meets K-pop, and hearts connect beyond borders.”

Adding his views on the collaboration, Music Director Dharan Kumar said “This collaboration was unlike anything I’ve done before. Aoora brought in an infectious passion for Tamil culture, and we found so many surprising similarities—from the melodic scales to rhythmic patterns. Meera provided the ideal platform to merge these worlds with authenticity and purpose. It’s not a fusion for fusion’s sake—it’s a cultural conversation, and I’m proud to be part of it.”
