Washington, D.C. – March 6, 2024 – Menka Soni, a prominent figure in women’s empowerment and the international fashion & pageant circuit, has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Global Women of Excellence during the 12th Congressional International Women’s Day celebration at Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. This esteemed award was presented by United States Congressman Danny K. Davis, alongside Representatives Jonathan Jackson (IL-01), Delia Ramirez, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Representative Shri Thanedar, and American Multiethnic Coalition’s President Dr. Vijay G. Prabhakar. Raised in Uttar Pradesh, India, Menka Soni stands as the sole recipient of this award, the only woman, and notably the lone Indian woman from the entire state of Washington to be honored.
The award ceremony, held on March 6th, 2024, highlighted Menka Soni’s “inspiring leadership and outstanding achievements to excel.” During the event, she had the privilege of meeting Congressman and Texas Representative Lloyd Doggett in his chamber, where she shared insights about her work and AmPowering’s mission and vision.”I am overjoyed and deeply honored to receive this recognition,” expressed Menka Soni. “Standing alongside remarkable women, including Mayors, Doctors, Scientists, Community Activists, and more, has been a humbling experience. This award holds profound meaning for me, and I am truly on cloud 9!”The significance of this award was further enhanced as Menka Soni was also presented with a medal signed by Representative Danny K. Davis. “I was deeply touched by the additional honor bestowed upon me by Representative Danny K. Davis. It further affirms the significance of this incredible achievement,” she remarked.Menka Soni also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her family, including her parents Motia Rani, Prem Prakash Soni, Neelam Soni, her husband Ashish Soni, and her daughters Astha Soni and Mehr Soni, as well as her friends, the incredible AmPowering team, and the entire community for their unwavering support. She spoke about her various projects under her non profit AmPowering (www.ampowering.org) and specially Mayka (My mother’s home) program where homeless women are able to get interim shelter and care like mother’s home.
