Mercedes Benz Launches GLA Class Luxury SUV in India

The year 2014 is definitely a great year for the auto maker Mercedes as far as the Indian market is concerned. We say this as the international models that have been launched by the vendor have been making their way into Indiawithout much delay. The latest member to this lineup is the new luxury SUV called GLA.

Prior to the launch of this luxury SUV by theGermany based auto maker, couple of competitors have landed into the country and they are the BMW X1 and Audi Q3 respectively that are luring the consumers.

On comparing the GLA with the compact SUV GLK, the latest one is more striking. It is based on the latest MFA platform that makes the SUV is a front wheel drive vehicle. For now, there is no 4Matic option inIndiaas it makes the vehicle a soft offering, but it will be featured in the GLA 45 AMG that is coming soon.

The GLA comes in two variants namely, Sport and Style respectively. Also, there are two engine options – 2.0 litre turbo petrol and 2.1 litre turbo diesel respectively. The petrol variant can render 184 PS power and 300 Nm torque, whereas the diesel model renders 136 PS power and the same 300 Nm torque. Both the models are mated with a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox as well.

When it comes to interior, the GLA is designed similar to its hatchback siblings. It features a huge panoramic sunroof, sat-nav, rear parking camera with sensors, interior color options in wide variety, electric seats for both driver and passengers, attention assist, tyre pressure monitoring sensors and seven airbags.

The GLA supports effortless connectivity for all gadgets and devices. There is a multimedia system that merges entertainment, information and communication and comprises of a radio with dual tuner, CD drive, telephone keypad and central media display that lets networking with mobile devices via Bluetooth.

When it comes to pricing, Mercedes has priced at GLA 200 CDI Style at Rs 32,75 lakh, 200 CDI Sport at Rs 36.9 lakh and 200 Sport for Rs 36 lakh respectively.
