Mercedes Benz rolls out diesel variant of Sedan S class 350

June 5, 2014: Mercedes Benz today rolled out for the first time a diesel variant of its new S Class 350. Announcing the launch of the diesel variant, Eberhard Kern, Chief Executive & Managing Director of Mercedes Benz India said, “We are delighted to manufacture the new S Class 350 at the Chakan plant and offer the much-awaited diesel option.” This is the first time that Mercedes Benz is launching a diesel variant of its popular S Class models and that too fully manufactured in India. Body of the new Benz is also being manufactured locally. This year Mercedes Benz has already rolled out five new products so far and they plan to launch 10 products this year.

Mercedes Benz who was once the market leader in India presently occupies the No.2 slot based on market share. German car-maker Mercedes Benz has priced the luxury Sedan S Class 350 diesel car at Rs.1.07 crore (ex-showroom Maharashtra). Besides the launch of the S Class Diesel cars, Mercedes also commenced power generation from its 100-kw rooftop solar plan and is also planning to double the production capacity to 20,000 units annually at its Chakan plant. The company has received necessary environment clearances for the same.
