Project MAYBACH X Virgil Abloh Concept show car:

The Project MAYBACH concept car, presented in a sandy monotone exterior wrapped in a robust roll bar, epitomizes high stakes adventuring while maintaining its essence as a sleek luxury coupé.

  • The color concept emphasizes a utilitarian, pure and monolithic style through its earthy sand tone.
  • Its striking sci-fi chrome grille enhances its futuristic appeal.
  • Inside, Abloh and Wagener have reimagined the cabin as a modular hotel room, where seats transform into a first-class flatbed.
  • The interior features polished aluminum paired with ultra-soft sandy leather, tanned naturally with coffee shells to ensure the lowest environmental impact.
  • The jacquard houndstooth-finish headrests can double as blankets, and cleverly designed compartments reveal reading lights.
  • Additionally, the seats can be packed up and removed suitcase-style, allowing them to be used in a high-end tent.
  • The roof rack not only protects the vehicle occupants but is also large enough to attach a roof tent as desired, creating yet another gateway to the great outdoors.
  • The dashboard seamlessly integrates digital and analogue elements, further highlighting the car’s advanced design.
  • Measuring 6 meters in length and boasting a 2-seat configuration, the Project MAYBACH combines Grand Tourer proportions with rugged off-road tires, enabling it to traverse any terrain while preserving the refined elegance synonymous with the Maybach brand.
  • Along with the headlights and protruding taillights, the vehicle’s nose, located behind a large glass panel, gets a futuristic touch, too – a modern reinterpretation of the renowned Mercedes-Maybach grille.

India’s most desirable luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz today, unveiled a one-of-its kind electric concept show car- Project MAYBACH Virgil Abloh, at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai. This exquisite and futuristic concept show car is designed by Late Virgil Abloh and Gorden Wagener reimagining responsible vision of future design. Using complete creative freedom and untethered by production requirements, the design teams conceptualized a vision of future electric travel and created a design unlike anything that has ever been developed by Mercedes-Benz. Inspired by the great outdoors and recontextualizing a traditionally urban brand within a distinctly off-road environment, the 2-seater, battery-electric off-road coupé combines huge Gran Turismo proportions, large off-road wheels, and distinctive attachments.

This revolutionary and rare concept car will be on display at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre till October 2024, offering visitors a glimpse of the unrestrained imagination and inspirational work of Late Virgil Abloh. It is the fourth concept car Mercedes-Benz has displayed in India after the stunning Vision Maybach 6, the outstanding Concept EQG and the visionary super sports concept car – Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo.

Project MAYBACH was first launched during Miami Art Week on December 1, 2021. It is the second collaboration between Wagener and Abloh, merging visionary design with a revolutionary approach to luxury. This exceptional car showcases unparalleled craftsmanship and detail, inspired by the idea of rediscovering the great outdoors. It features innovative elements such as a dashboard compass, blending exploration with high-end functionality.

Both Late Virgil Abloh and Gorden Wagener prioritized a forward-thinking approach to design. With complete creative freedom—unbound by production limitations— enabled the design teams to conceptualize a vision of future of electric travel. For instance, the show car features solar cells hidden under its transparent hood, enhancing the range.

Mercedes-Benz’s Project Maybach boasts a one-of-a-kind design, with every single detail engineered from the scratch. Drawing inspiration from outdoor and adapting a traditionally urban brand for a unique off-road setting, the 2-seater battery-electric off-road coupé combines huge Gran Turismo proportions, large off-road wheels, and distinctive attachments.

Project MAYBACH embodies the perfect combination of state-of-the-art off-road capabilities and an extraordinary Maybach identity, defining the next level of luxury like we already did 100 years ago. The design of Project Maybach had inspired a limited-edition Mercedes-Maybach S-Class that was released in 2022.

The display of Project MAYBACH will offer a unique opportunity to honor Late Virgil Abloh’s legacy, by presenting one of his final projects to the discerning Indian audience.
