At TechManch by e4m, the topic ‘Marketing in the Metaverse: How Brands are Engaging in Virtual Worlds’ was discussed by industry experts, in a panel discussion that was held in a metaverse. It was the highlight of the many discussions and talks held at TechManch, where each panelist appeared as an avatar of themselves on the screens.

Held entirely in a metaverse, this one-of-a-kind session was chaired by Niraj Ruparel – Head of Mobile & Emerging Tech, Group M. The panel featured Bhawna Sikka, Digestive Health Business Lead at Haleon; Amit Jain, Head of Marketing & PR at Volvo Car India; Anjali Krishnan, Consumer Experience Lead at Mondelez India & Bangladesh; Shankar Iyer, Associate Director (Marketing) at Perfetti Van Melle India, and Dave Dolan, Chief Product Officer at Veative Labs.

Ruparel noted that the metaverse included an ever-growing number of virtual worlds wherein people could not only play games, but also make new friends, meet back some old ones, go to a real-time virtual concert, and so much more! He added that on these platforms people can often represent themselves with versions far more authentic than they can do in the real world.

Ruparel also dismissed the notion that metaverses are just fads and identified them as platforms that would drive power and success across industries for years to come. Metaverses are here to stay, and that is why we see everyone from banks to ad agencies eager to form the right partnerships and create their own in-house metaverse games so that they can bring more people into these shared spaces.

Volvo’s Amit Jain had recently done a news interview in his meta-human avatar. He noted that he was amazingly comfortable in the metaverse, saying that even in the Volvo-verse initiative, they played a log of games and also did other activities.

Bhawna Sikka, Digestive Health Business Head at Haleon, said that the platform was something that her company was looking at with keen strategic interest.

The panel also discussed various other aspects of the metaverse and its many uses, and the discussion finally concluded with Ruparel, in real life, coming on the stage and discussing the minutiae of setting up a metaverse and the ease of using it.
