MGM Healthcare, in association with TANKER (Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Foundation) conducted Kidney Screening camp for Auto Drivers in the city in collaboration on the occasion of World Kidney Day.
TANKER foundation has initiated a significant step towards promoting kidney health by organizing a specialized kidney screening camp exclusively for 100 auto-rickshaw drivers in Chennai. Auto-rickshaw drivers are also known for their tireless work on the bustling streets of Chennai and they are prone to various health challenges, often exacerbated by long hours of sitting, irregular meals, exposure to pollution and dehydration.
Recognizing the vulnerability of this segment of society MGM Healthcare in association with TANKER (Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Foundation) organized this free health check today. The auto drivers were offered tests including, Urinalysis, Urine albumin-creatinine ratio (uACR), Serum creatinine, Blood pressure, Blood sugar and other imaging on requirement.
“Kidney health is often overlooked until symptoms become severe. By conducting regular screenings, we can identify potential risks at an early stage and initiate timely interventions to prevent complications. The Auto-Drivers are also the Lifeline of Chennai. They relentlessly work 24*7 for the people and they ensure that their commune reaches to the last mile of the Chennai. We have also witnessed that Auto drivers have improper sleep pattern and improper meal intake which can also lead to kidney related diseases. So in this initiative we’re spreading awareness on the kidney Health for the Auto Drivers” said Prof. Dr. Georgi Abraham, Senior Consultant, Department of Nephrology, MGM Healthcare.
During the screening session auto drivers were educated about the importance of hydration, balanced diet, and regular exercise in maintaining optimal kidney function.
