June 16, 2014: Micromax as anticipated today launched its first set of Windows 8.1 devices. Four months after India’s second largest handset maker Micromax announced a partnership with Microsoft, the company has launched two Windows based smartphones Canvas Win W121 and Canvas Win W092. Launched at very attractive price points Micromax believes that it would be able to pull customers and they in turn would be able to appreciate the performance and quality of the device. Canvas Win W121 is being launched at a price of Rs.9,500 and W02 at Rs.6,500. Both these Windows based smartphones from Micromax would be available through retail outs from July onwards.
Micromax with these Windows based devices is looking forward to give a good user experience. Micromax Chairman Sanjay Kapoor in an interview to ET was quoted as saying, “We thought that it’s time to offer some variety to consumers and augment user choice alongside user experience. By offering Windows, we’ve become the only Indian brand to be present across two most popular operating systems.” He further added that, “Price alone can neither be the differential factor nor a sustainable one. It’s all about the user experience. With Windows 8.1, users will get a great experience which will get augmented on larger screen size of 5-inches. We have a long term partnership with Qualcomm and Microsoft. There is another device in the works but we will talk about it when it approaches finality. “
Both Canvas Win W121 and W092 work on Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 1.2 GHZ quad core processor and has got dual sim capabilities. Powered by a 1 GB RAM, Canvas Win W121 has got a five inch screen and Win W092 has got a 4 inch screen.
