Microsoft’s venture Fund M12 declared that it had opened its new office at Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India. Local forces are appointed to follow the investment opportunities in India over the country. They are mainly focusing on B2B software startups, specializing in areas like applied Artificial applications, infrastructure, security, and vanguard technologies. The company invests in disruptive enterprise software startups in series A through the C funding stages. They are mainly targeting local and cross-border solutions. The office in Bengaluru joins the M12 network that includes San Francisco, Seattle, London, and Tel Aviv.
The previous month, mint daily reported that Microsoft Corporation is planning an investment proposal with Mukesh Ambani’s Jio platform Ltd, India’s largest digital unit company worth $2 billion. But there is no official confirmation made by the Company regarding the matter. India lead M12 Abhi Kumar said that they are expecting huge difficulty regarding the Startup journey in India ranging from local to global challenges. Starting and maintaining a startup in India is a great challenge for the company. Case points require particular and deep organizational strength, proven talent, go-to- partnerships, and global investors. For those young generations with deep technical and business, talent is hired from India’s top engineering schools and major R&D centers.
Since 2019 Microsoft Corporation’s M12 had been investing in the Indian portfolio which includes Company’s like Innovaccer and Far eye. Since the year of establishment in 2016 M12 has been invested in 90 companies. It is a Financial and founder-focused fund, they are following a technology-agnostic approach to investments. The team consists of 27 members who have decades of experience in areas like investing, product innovation, business development, go-to-market, R&D, and entrepreneurship. There are board seats with investments for helping the promoters with active support and engagement. M12 (Microsoft Ventures) also takes part in several of Microsoft’s broad engagement programs, such as Microsoft for startups. They have an active Business development team which involve in strategic M&A.
Abhi Kumar, India lead M12 said that the startup journey in India is to bring experience and resources to the country.
