New Delhi, December 6, 2023: The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE), in partnership with The/Nudge Institute, invites applications for The/Nudge Indian Administrative Fellowship program (SJE ‘24). This first-of-its-kind 18-month program brings senior executives (CXOs/ VPs/ GMs) from the private sector together with civil servants in the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, to accelerate data and technology-based innovative solutions in livelihood programs. Facilitated by the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), MoSJE, this Fellowship aims to strengthen livelihoods access, governance reforms, and citizen service delivery.
Emphasizing the value of public-private partnership anchored in the program, Secretary to the Government, Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri. Saurabh Garg said “The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has the mandate of ensuring welfare, social justice, and empowerment for the most vulnerable in our society. In line with this vision, this collaboration is poised to bring fresh approaches to policy design, technology integration, and improved services for our focus communities. I invite seasoned technologists and innovators from the private sector to work alongside our dedicated civil servants and scale impactful programs that will make our society more inclusive and equitable.”
Speaking about the partnership with NISD, MoSJE, Ms. Sudha Srinivasan, CEO, The/Nudge Centre for Social Innovation said, “Our initial experience with the Fellowship in state governments has demonstrated the transformative power of technology in public systems, leading to sustainable development for millions of citizens. This success has inspired us to expand the Fellowship to Union ministries. This opportunity with the Department of Social Justice enables us to serve some of the most underserved segments of India’s population.”
The Indian Administrative Fellowship was first launched in partnership with the Government of Karnataka in July 2021, where it attracted senior professionals including CEO of Airtel’s Retail business and the CFO of Fidelity Investments. Fellows worked on strategic projects such as increasing the impact of the Jal Jeevan Mission, setting up an Innovation Cell for strengthening farmers’ welfare, and facilitating the second Karnataka Administrative Reforms Commission. The Fellowship is currently active in the states of Punjab and Karnataka, and includes a certification from Indian School of Business upon completion of 18 months of service.
