MMRDA and Cherapunjee Officially Launch the Mighty Mumbai Board Game

Mumbai, 28th February, 2025: On the auspicious occasion of Shivaji Jayanti, a day that celebrates the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Mogra Metro Station was transformed into a living, breathing tribute to Mumbai’s indomitable spirit. Mighty Mumbai, a one-of-a-kind city-themed board game, was officially launched by MMRDA and Cherapunjee Innovations, marking a milestone in skill development through play.

Draped in Mighty Mumbai’s signature style, Mogra Metro Station was a spectacle in itself. Game boxes hung from ceilings, dice-themed seating welcomed commuters, and branded entry gates, staircases, elevators, and escalators turned the metro into a fully immersive experience, bringing the game to life!

Celebrating Mumbai Through Play

More than just a board game, Mighty Mumbai is a celebration of the city’s culture, history, and diversity, while fostering key life skills like decision-making, strategic thinking, networking, and teamwork.

The event was graced by key dignitaries, including Hon’ble Smt. Rubal Agarwal, IAS, Managing Director, M3OCL; Shri Vikram Kumar, IAS, Addl. Metropolitan Commissioner; Shri Sushil Chandra, Director (Planning); Shri Manoj Joshi, Director (Operations); and Shri Pravin Gajare, Director (Maintenance).

The launch of Mighty Mumbai aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the Indian toy industry, as highlighted in his Independence Day 2024 address:

“Earlier, our own people used to speak of India in low terms, saying that even toys were coming from outside. But things have changed now, and Indian toys are doing well in the global market.”

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Guest Mrs Rubal Prakhar Agarwal Managing Director of MMMOCL, said, “We are excited to be a part of this innovative initiative that encourages both fun and learning, making it a true celebration of Mumbai’s energy and resilience. Mighty Mumbai is not just a game, but a reflection of our city’s spirit. This collaboration does not only promote the rich diversity of Mumbai but also encourages essential life skills such as strategic thinking, decision-making, and teamwork.”

Adding to this, Darshan M, Co-founder of Cherapunjee, said: “We designed Mighty Mumbai as a board game and not a mobile game with the sole purpose of getting people to take time off screens. We want people to connect in the real world and build relationships with their friends, families, colleagues and neighbours. The board game coming alive in the Metro station is an innovation that was made possible by Signpost India Ltd.
