Mumbai, 13th December 2024- In the third episode of Vi Presents, “Be a Parent, Yaar! Season 2” by Yuvaa actress and comedian Kusha Kapila sat with her mother Rita Kapila to reveal little-known aspects of her life, offering fans a peek into her world before she became an actor.
Following the success of Nikhil Taneja’s “Be A Man, Yaar!”, the third episode of Vi Presents, “Be A Parent, Yaar!” by Yuvaa is all set to offer viewers a unique glimpse with a heartwarming and revealing conversation between Kusha Kapila and her mother Rita Kapila offering an unprecedented glimpse into their personal lives, family dynamics, and personal growth journeys.
The chat show began with a fun banter where Kusha playfully introduced herself as Rita’s daughter, and Rita shared how everyone nicknamed Kusha as “Kameti“ to which Kusha openly acknowledged that her entire fame is essentially because of her mom, as the episode continues it showcased a powerful demonstration of their evolving relationship – a bond that transcends traditional mother-daughter dynamics and unconditional love. Their conversation was not just a personal narrative but a broader perspective on changing family structures, generational perspectives, and personal growth.
During their conversation Rita opened up about her struggles with early pregnancy and postpartum depression, and shared how when she delivered Kusha, society expected a boy, but she was overjoyed to have a daughter. She also revealed how her husband and mother-in-law consistently encouraged her personal growth, challenging the conventional norms of her time.
Rita also recalled how she enjoyed dressing up Kusha to match her changing eye color with her outfits. She also addressed the societal stigmas surrounding body weight that her daughters encountered, she expressed, “As a parent I would say this to everyone to avoid making their child feel insecure about their body or appearance, as it gets stuck in their mind forever.” she also added “I believe in giving utmost freedom to both my daughters.” Rita also revealed that she used to go to the temple very early in the morning to avoid people who would ask her questions about Kusha. She mentioned the role her husband, Kusha’s father played in helping her deal with it, saying, “Your father used to make me understand that it is not a big thing, everyone goes through a tough time and that ups and downs are part of our lives.”
Adding to the conversation, Kusha talked about how Rita’s influence has always inspired her, she also shared about her personal experiences with mental health challenges, and how she deals with social media trolling. While chatting with Ritu she opened up and said “I’ve never truly humanized my parents as individuals with their own dreams and aspirations, and while speaking about her mental health struggles she adds, “I think I am very vulnerable to these things and if I express it to my parents they will also be vulnerable. So, I try to follow my father’s approach of keeping things practical which has made me a ‘get-up, move on and shove it under the carpet’ person in the last 2 to 3 years.”
Further into the conversation, Rita emphasised the importance of personal growth and freedom, and how she wants her daughters to achieve everything they want in their life. Throughout the episode Kusha also realised about her avoidant personality and explored a new perspective on her mother.
