MTV Consumer Products to expand to 25 categories by next fiscal

Feb 13, 2013: MTV Consumer Products which has presence in nearly 15 categories is planning to expand its presence to 25 categories by next fiscal. MTV which is more known as a youth brand is planning its foray into women’s inner-wear, eye wear wrist-wear, laptops, adventure bikes, condoms etc. MTV has tied up with companies like SWIPE Telecom, Citibank, Firefox, Mochi etc and has brand licensing agreements with its partners for the existing categories. MTV is planning to venture into cafes and youth hostels as well and exploring partnerships for the same.

MTV which is promoted by Viacom18 is tying up with more firms for this and looking for licensing deals to bring out co branded products. MTV through these product ranges is trying to create a eco system outside televisions and creating a merchandise targeting the youth. Viacom 18 which has MTV brands and Nickelodeon branded products expect the product categories of these two brands to generate more than Rs.400 crores for the company.
