India, 27th September 2022: Continuing with its exceptional performance, Nabha Power Limited (NPL), which is owned and operated by Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has now been ranked at the top among all thermal power plants in the country based on its operational performance during the first five months of the current financial year.

As per the data released by Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Rajpura Thermal Power Plant operated at the highest Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 93.42 % among all thermal plants in India during the period April-August 2022. During the same period, the national average remained at 65.26%. This is the best ever performance achieved by NPL in its history.

Commenting on the Operational Performance, Mr SK Narang, Chief Executive of Nabha Power said, Nabha Power has been continuously working towards improving its   operational efficiency and reliability. NPL has been adopting best-in-class operation and maintenance practices, thus enabling it to supply cheapest power in the State of Punjab to the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). This has ensured that the plant remains on top of the merit order which has enabled it to clock the highest PLF in the country.”

He added, “In spite of it being a non-pithead plant located at a distance of ~1400 KM from coal mines, NPL was able to maintain the coal stocks as per CEA norms even during the nationwide coal crisis situation. Therefore, this accomplishment is a matter of great satisfaction for us.

Nabha Power has been recognised nationally and internationally as one of the best thermal plants and has bagged more than 30 prestigious national and international awards in the energy sector, notable among them are the “National Energy Conservation Award” by the Ministry of Power, “National Energy Leader Award” & “Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award” by CII and the “Best IPP Award” conferred by IPPAI for three consecutive years 2017, 2018, 2019 and again in 2022.

The plant has been in continuous operations for 143 days while Unit #2 has been operating continuously for last 176 days, thus supplying uninterrupted and reliable power to the State of Punjab. The Plant also contribut
