Navjot Singh Sidhu, the president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, has joined Koo, India’s multilingual microblogging platform. Shri Sidhu will use the social media platform to communicate with Punjabis in their local languages and to convey information about the state’s numerous projects and developments.

“Punjabis want to know Arvind Kejriwal Ji,” the cricketer-turned-politician tweeted from his official handle @navjotsinghsidhu. How will you fund the daily freebies you announce? Stop deceiving people if you can’t back up your promises with a fundamental economic basis. Punjabis are entitled to income, not bheekh; the Punjab Model is intended to provide all Punjabis with income and opportunities.”

Shri Sidhu was a prolific cricketer in the 1980s and 1990s, representing India in 51 Test matches and 136 ODIs before retiring from international cricket in 1999. He then became a commentator and television personality and is known for his quirks, humor, and wit. Sidhu began his political career in 2004 when he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Amritsar on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.

In 2017, he became a member of the Indian National Congress, and in July 2021, he was elected President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. Sidhuji resigned from the job in September amid considerable fanfare, but his resignation was rejected by the Congress high leadership.

“We are ecstatic to welcome Navjot Singh Sidhu on the Koo App – a platform that empowers Indians to communicate and interact in their mother tongue,” a Koo representative stated while welcoming Shri Sidhu to the platform. We are confident that Sidhu ji’s presence on our multilingual platform would allow people to receive regular information on events in Punjab in their language.

We also expect a large number of influential people from the region to join the platform and engage in beneficial exchanges.” The Koo App, as a unique platform for expression in Indian languages, has attracted Chief Ministers from 17 Indian states, as well as numerous Cabinet Ministers, leaders, cricketers, artists, and others, who use the platform’s multi-language capability to communicate with their local audiences.

The Made-in-India platform recently surpassed 15 million downloads, a huge achievement for a 20-month-old software. Koo is predicted to reach 100 million downloads in the next year, thanks to its solid technologies and creative features.
