The New Year was all set to bring hope and optimism to start the year on a fresh note. But the new variant of Covid-19 seems to disrupt plans and lives as it is forcing states to go on a shutdown phase.
Nescafe, in the film, shows a student trying to get into a college in Mumbai and is asking her father to sign it. The father responds by asking her if she could try out colleges near her house within walking distance. Not only parents, but the pandemic will also be an obstruction to a student’s dreams.
Along with the pandemic, students also have to face the daunting approval of their parents who all are at times reluctant to send their kids to far off places for a long time. Nescafe India, the coffee beverage brand, has brought a film to the viewers about this issue.
In the ad, we see the father and daughter arguing about colleges in Mumbai and colleges nearby their house. The girl is adamant that she needs to move on in life and that she should run rather than walk to catch up in life.
The father understands this and quickly makes her a cup of Nescafe coffee. He tells her that to run in life, she will need some coffee as fuel. Thus, the father gives her subtle approval.
It is an interesting ad because the girl who was under the protection of her father for many years has now let go and is making her the protector.
In 2017, we were shown a similar ad by Nescafe, where a father wakes his son up and gives him a cup of Nescafe coffee. The father reveals to his son that he has received an offer from his father’s college.
He says to his son that he will need coffee for the early mornings and late nights that he will face in college.
Nescafe also has an ad that explains how coffee can be made affordable for college students. The brand has a coffee sachet packet that contains coffee powder, milk and sugar, all mixed in a sachet. The student will only need to pour hot water into it and it costs only Rs.10.
