Netflix and Excel entertainment enter into multi-year series partnership

The popular streaming service i.e., Netflix has now announced a valuable long-term partnership with Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, the banner behind the cult classic Dil Chahta Hai together with Rock On, ZNMD, Lakshya, Toofan, and also the Don franchise.

An Indian production company Excel Entertainment was founded by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar in 1999. Based in Mumbai, they mainly produce Hindi films. They’re also known to be the pioneers of original content on Online Digital platforms in India. This creative pact matches Netflix’s exciting and diverse series slate in India.

Being one among the pioneers in on-demand detailed storytelling, Excel Entertainment will produce a range of stories under its series banner Excel Media & Entertainment for Netflix members in over 190 countries beginning with two projects temporarily titled Dabba Cartel and Queen of the hill. Dabba Cartel may be a story of 5 housewives who run a high-stakes secret cartel. Style, ambition, love, friendship, and betrayal set within the backdrop of jazz-rich 1960s Mumbai, Queen of Capitol Hill witnesses the healthy relationship between two ambitious women that may change the town forever.
