As we all know, 2021 is about to shut its doors in front of us which was also a year followed up by pandemic issues where millions of people were far away from their home or loved ones or who were not able to make up their hometowns will be in the same list this year also.

As every year we step into it with the expectation that the year will be filled with hope, love and success. WhatsApp joins hands with us for adding in it. 

WhatsApp’s new campaign celebrates the most popular messaging day of the users. It takes the viewers all around the world with the advertisement put forward to us to say that if you don’t get that special message that you have been waiting for then your new year hasn’t begun.

On dating back to 2020 new year evening WhatsApp has recorded that almost 100 billion messages alone were sent in WhatsApp by their users in wishing their beloved. On the same day it was the 10th year of WhatsApp celebrating 1.4 billion video and voice calls placed only on last new years eve. 

The new campaign ad was streamed online in all over the media forms in mainly five countries: Brazil, India, Germany, United Kingdom and United States. It was created in collaboration between Meta’s marketing team and BBDO.

The advertisement was directed by Niclas Laarson and shot by Linus Sandgren which comprises 15 seconds. The film put forward a new year celebration taking place and a girl is staying away from it and waiting for the message from her loved one. As the clock struck 12 and everyone exclaimed “Happy New Year” she got the message from the person she was waiting for and her whole face lit up.

The film ends in bringing a hope to us with her smile that you are never too late in getting connected with your loved ones across the globe.

It’s just there in your fingertips and you have to make a move before your choice gets delayed in it. Whatsapp has been an integral part of us for people who couldn’t make a connection offline like they used to do and people were stuck in many parts of the world when the pandemic occurred.

So people had to rely intentionally on online means to get in touch with their homes and millions of users took whatsapp platform.

Unlike any other campaigns put forward by whatsapp this has a personal touch enacting one of the current personal life one holds in this scenario and that move resulted in a great impact to the world.

It was a great sight to pair reality with universality. New year is one of the global moments that brings people from all over the place together, and the celebration is incomplete unless you hear a word from your dear one and the moment can happen through whatsapp.
