As the government is preparing to enforce strict safety norms for the automobiles, a few car manufacturers are implementing safety features. Well, some car manufactures are in plans to take the lead and offer additional safety features that will be standard fitments voluntarily.
Ford, the America based car maker has announced the second generation Figo hatchback with six airbags in the high end variant. New Ford Figo also has two airbags to protect the co-driver and driver as a standard fitment.
The manufacturer stated that all new cars that will be launched in India will have an airbag on the driver side as a standard fitment. The New Ford Figo carries a price of Rs 4.3 lakh that is the ex-showroom pricing in New Delhi for the base model with petrol engine. The vehicle is the only in the segment to come with dual airbags that are standard fitments in this price range. The diesel variant of the Ford Figo is priced at Rs 5.29 lakh as per the ex-showroom pricing in New Delhi.
Ford entered the Indian automobile market a couple of decades back. It has been struggling to achieve a strong footing in the market for so long. The manufacturer is bullish to achieve a considerable share in the Indian automobile market with its latest models.
The German car manufacturer Volkswagen is the first manufacturer to provide airbags on all the variants launched in the country since the advent of this year. Toyota, the Japanese car manufacturer also announced similar plans lately. The small car segment dominators Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors have not made such announcements so far.
Ford witnessed success with the launch of the EcoSport, the compact SUV. It is in plans to launch the upgraded EcoSport that is an intermediary model in the next month. This upcoming model will also have two airbags in it as a standard fitment.
