Nokia has released a new device on the marketplace that will compete with the likes of Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV stick and the newest Xiaomi Mi TV Stick. The company has jumped into a new segment which aims to make smart non-smart TVs.

Nokia says the latest device is available only in India. The product will be made released directly on Flipkart and will go on sale as from August 28. Nokia Media Streamer is $3,499 priced.

The Nokia Media Streamer is more similar in concept to the style of Apple TVs. The video app supports 60fps with FullHD resolution. The computer uses HDMI2.0 and also supports HDR. The Media Streamer gets Dolby Audio for the audio. It also supports Miracast, DLNA, Airplay, WiFi show, as casting options on Google home.

The apps that have been pre-loaded include Netflix, Zee5, Youtube, Google Music, Google Play Store and Google Play.

For voice commands, the streaming device will support Google Assistant, and users will also be able to download an application to their smartphones to treat it as remote.

Going by the price range, both Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and Xiaomi Mi TV Stick will be up against this unit. We also reported in the month of June that Google is also working to rival Amazon on devices. Compared with Chrome this app will have additional features.

Nokia Media Streamer is priced at Rs. 3,499 and will be available as Nokia smart TVs from Flipkart. The newly released Mi TV Stick is also priced at Rs. 2,799 and comes with similar features and functionality including voice assistant support and FHD streaming.
