The newly released Google Pixel phones have a long list of outstanding features, but the price tag is a bit high.
The Pixel 6 costs Rs 44,990, while the Pixel 6 Pro costs over Rs 68,000.
Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, Realme, OPPO, and others, according to Counterpoint Research, own the majority of the smartphone market share in India.
With 34% of the market, OPPO’s OnePlus is the market leader in luxury smartphones.
Counterpoint research provided the data.
These figures show that Google Pixel phones aren’t even on the radar for many Indians. For these reasons, the newer iPhone 6 and 6 Pro models will not be offered in India.
Google Pixel phones aren’t even on the list of brands with the most market share in the United States. Xiaomi, Samsung, Apple, and Vivo are the brands with the most market share.
Why does it continue to try when its consideration is so low in the thoughts of consumers? We spoke to some market professionals to find out.
Google, according to Sandeep Budki, creator and managing editor of The Mobile Indian, has always been primarily a software corporation.
It includes several divisions, including a search engine, mapping, and software development.
Sandeep Budki Budki argues that each company (such as Samsung or Xiaomi) uses the Android system’s basic basis and adds its own user interface on top of it.
“Pixel is creating the phone through several OEM partners, but Google has never taken this element of its business seriously.”
The Pixel was not released in India last year because a navigation chip included in the phone was not allowed to be used with satellites in India.
Apple, according to Divyapratap Mehta Mehta, is an example of a company that has been able to bridge the gap between hardware and software to develop a better product.
“When Apple releases a new phone, it has the ability to render your previous phone obsolete. As a result, customers are compelled to update and purchase a new phone.”
According to Mehta, this has less to do with brand building and more to do with controlling the user experience at the final mile.
“Even older Mac computers were capable of creating a fully integrated user experience, which is why it is so popular among users.”
Google has thus far mainly focused on software design, making it difficult for it to nail the hardware interface.”
Shubhajit Sen is an Indian politician.
“When the Android system is used on third-party devices, some features of the system will be unavailable.
This is when the problem of hardware and software not being optimized together, like in the case of Apple, arises.”
“From the operating system to the semiconductor that powers the gadget, the long-term worldwide strategy aim is to produce a flagship product.”
In that sense, the corporation has complete control. That would demonstrate Android’s and Google’s full power,” he concludes.
