Dec 4, 2012: Come March 2013 and mobile subscribers in India would be celebrating no roaming charges for mobile calls. The telecom department which had already announced abolishing of roaming charges is likely to ask mobile operators to implement this from March 2013 for whom roaming constitutes 10% of the revenue. Mobile operators are not happy with this and are totally against such a move citing that it will affect the already bleeding industry which has one of the lowest ARPU. This has been revealed in an internal note which was sent by DOT and accessed and reported by The Economic Times.
