Yes what you are reading is true my folks!!! Nokia is all set to unleash the power of social media application and latest technologies.  They have introduced a new concept of linking online and offline tactics by the introduction of their “Nokia Gift Machine” at Nokia stores in Dubai.

Well the concept is that it you will win prizes including movies tickets, chocolates, accessories and even Nokia devices (that sounds something like cool) in exchange for check-in through Foursquare or NFS and sharing in social networking site.

The installation of machine developed by UK based global creative social agency 1000heads is a proof of how brands are moving to bridge the gap between online and offline marketing. The concept of exchanging gift for online sharing in real world seems to be an ideal tool for brands to build strong emotional connect with the consumers.

Nokia with their Nokia Gift machine is trying to build a strong social brand equity and brand equity among its customers. In one of my previous article (Top Indian Brands making Buzz in social media: NM Incite India Survey) I have mentioned that brands that topped in building social media equity have adopted effective marketing efforts offline to create that positive association in the minds of consumers. It seems like more and more brands are choosing the path to create effective offline conversations to build up the social brand equity which is of  much value in today’s cyber world.

However this is not first time Nokia is using the machine. They have successfully implemented the machines in trade shows which had made them popular among the audiences and now they have opened it for mass consumers to experience the same.

The machine is already making waves in the social media and let’s keeps figures crossed for Nokia to rank top in the next social brand equity list.
