NSDC, Airtel Payments Bank Partners to Skill Rural Youth

On Wednesday, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has proclaimed its alliance with Airtel Payments Bank in the view of mastering the rural youth in India and helping them to find job opportunities and become entrepreneurs in the financial services sector. This collaboration will enhance the experience & training infrastructure of NSDC, and also the wide network with Airtel Payment Bank’s industry awareness, to plan and administer targeted skill development programs for rural youth.

NSDC is a Non-Profit organization (NPO) structured by the Ministry of Finance, under the Companies Act to encourage skill development with the help of the private sector. The basic purpose of NSDC is to provide skills-related training through private-sector partners to skill 150 million people by 2022.

Through the strategic alliance with Airtel Payments Bank, NSDC focus on imparting the youth with expertise and training that render financial and banking services more accessible to rural and semi-urban India, Manish Kumar, NSDC MD & CEO, mentioned in his statement.

He added that the skill development initiative will be customized for imparting knowledge and skills for entry-level jobs, such as business correspondent and field sales executive, in the financial services sector. The initiative will focus on the adoption of tools to increase internet banking and digital financial services at a time when the smartphone market is growing and usage of 4G has increased.

Anubrata Biswas, Airtel Payments Bank MD and CEO, said that India has the highest young population in the world, and a great division is living in small towns and villages of the country. Airtel is glad to collaborate with NSDC to strengthen the youth and set up a financially inclusive India.

Also, the Airtel Payments Bank and National Skill Development Corporation will strengthen their connections and this will benefit the candidates to find satisfactory jobs. This partnership will also extend to e-Skill India, NSDC’s digital skilling initiative. Special learning modules will be built to create awareness about digital financial services and will be introduced on the platform.
