Mumbai, 4th December 2023: In an effort to generate employment and promote skill development in the country, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), working under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), inked three Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Blinkit, Apna and Quess Corp, marking a crucial advancement in expediting job creation, and empowering the Indian workforce.

The partnerships aim at creating a readily available workforce for diverse industries, each contributing to different sectors of the economy. While Apna and Quess Corp will be integrating their jobs platforms with Skill India Digital through SSO, the MoU with Blinkit will co-create curriculum, and skill the workforce for the emerging quick-commerce Industry and its warehouse job roles.

The Skill India Digital is a go-to hub for citizens seeking career advancement and lifelong learning. It also facilitates access to entrepreneurial initiatives and fosters connections between job-seekers and employers.

The partnership with Blinkit will also focus on recruitment of candidates, capable of making immediate contributions to the identified job role in the quick commerce segment. Furthermore, Quess will support NSDC in mobilizing employers to engage in Job Fairs. And Apna will provide industry insights to NSDC and aid in conducting surveys with key employers.

Lauding the initiative, Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC and MD, NSDC International said, “As India grapples with ever-changing global dynamics and seeks to harness its demographic advantage, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) plays a pivotal role in propelling employment opportunities across India by focusing on skill development initiatives. By collaborating with private businesses, NSDC designs and implements training programs that equip individuals with the necessary skills demanded by the evolving job market. The organization’s commitment to driving skill development has a cascading effect, positively influencing economic growth and enhancing the employability of millions across diverse sectors in India. Hon’ble Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, recently underscored a noteworthy shift in India’s unemployment rate, reducing to 3.2% from 6% in 2017, while concurrently welcoming an additional 1.5 crore citizens to the skilling ecosystem in 2022-23.”

The MoUs between the government and the private sector stand as compelling testament to the transformative impact of public-private collaborations in driving economic growth and employment. Beyond the immediate goal of job creation, the collaborative endeavors between the NSDC and private enterprises are poised to catalyze entrepreneurship and innovation. Aiming to instill a culture of self-reliance and economic sustainability, the government actively empowers individuals with the essential skills required to initiate and manage their ventures. This multifaceted approach not only contributes to workforce development but also fuels a broader ecosystem of creativity and enterprise.
