Reach Each Child program is an initiative of Dettol Banega Swasth India’s Nutrition. It has made a significant impact on the community to achieve zero child deaths due to malnutrition in Amravati and Nandurbar districts. This program supports thousands of children under the age of five by creating a team of frontline workers for nutrition named Community Nutrition Workers.
Reckitt and Plan India have been consistently working towards improving maternal and child health standards in India by investing in better nutrition. This program was able to produce a value of Rs. 37 from each rupee invested. The third phase of the Reach Each Child initiative launched in 2021 that provides support and care during the first 1000 days of a mother and child’s life. This program has made an impact on families in the last two years in Amravati and Nandurbar districts and aims to extend its support across districts of India.
A lifecycle approach has been adopted; gender sensitivity, inclusivity, community ownership, and early prevention. This initiative is to reduce the number of undersized children under five by 40%. Mr.Ravi Bhatnagar, Director of External Affairs and Partnership, Reckitt said on world Nutrition day that through this initiative they work to protect, heal, and nurture a cleaner and healthier world. The Reach Each Child program has helped achieve zero malnutrition deaths among supported children and increase the proportion of women choosing facility-based deliveries by 26%. They aim to bring a change in the lives of 10 million new mothers by 2024.
Mr.Mohd Asif, Executive Director of Plan India said that their partnership with Reckitt for the initiative has helped to bring about significant change in people’s lives, particularly that of children and mothers. On the occasion of World Nutrition Day, they continue to focus on developing skills, knowledge, and confidence of mothers and caregivers of children to maintain healthy pregnancies.
Reach Each Child program plans to install Takhti at Zilla Parishad offices of all villages across Amravati and Nandurbar that have witnessed zero deaths due to malnutrition. Reckitt developed the Reach Each Child initiative along with the partner Plan India to spread awareness and reach every child in the fight against malnutrition.
