Octro to Invest Rs 150-200 Crore for Brand Building

Octro, the largest and fastest-growing global mobile gaming company plans to spend a vast Rs 150-200 crore on marketing, especially targeting traditional mediums, in 2021 as part of its brand-building strategy. The marketing budget for the year 2020 was upwards of Rs 100 crore, most of which was spent on various digital platforms, and for the calendar year 2021, they have planned to designate between Rs 100 crore and Rs 200 on marketing. This budget will be revisited in Q4 of 2021. Octro’s marketing strategy was initially focused only on digital media promotions and has achieved enormous growth through its deep stretching digital means. Although, Octro’s marketing spends on traditional media has an insignificant contribution to its overall growth and success over the years, the company now intends to target the traditional mediums like TV.  The majority of the company’s marketing monies are invested on high trafficked digital platforms. It now realizes the efficacy of traditional media like TV in building trust among the customers, and hence decided to move on to a traditional means for marketing. The company now plans to experiment with the traditional media as part of investing and building its brand. Octro is the founder company for famous games like Teen Patti, Indian Rummy, and Tambola and is amongst the top ten apps across the Google Play stores and in Apple iOS. The company enjoys a massive customer base of over 200+ million players across its gaming properties. The company now focuses more on investing in brand building, user acquisition, and retention as it advances to launch more made in India games globally. 2020 recorded a successful year for Octro as it is ranked No.1 in India by App Annie for top-grossing by revenue. Foreseeing the potential of the Indian online gaming market, Octro plans to build a user base of more than 700 million game users in India by 2022, and hence to peg a pinnacle position in the Indian entertainment and sports industry. Recently they are investing aggressively in research and development, intending to build more global IPs which in turn can be used by 200 markets and can be localized to 20 languages. The Octro is a highly profitable company that generates most of its money from In-app-purchases for social games. If the government supports through favorable regulations, online and real-money gaming can realize its full potential and can thus make India one of the biggest online gaming markets in the world.
