OPPO will follow Samsung's footsteps & create its own processors.

The only smartphone manufacturers that had their mobile processors were Apple, Huawei, and Samsung. Recently, Google began working with Samsung’s System LSI division to develop its smartphone chipsets. Even though LG and Xiaomi worked on the issue, they never released products for the mass market that used their processors. Another smartphone manufacturer is reportedly working on its chipsets right now.

OPPO is creating its smartphone chipsets, and the company expects to release its first model in 2024. There are reportedly thousands of engineers working on the SoCs at the Chinese company. OPPO’s chipsets may be used by other BBK Electronics brands like OnePlus, Realme, and Vivo.

It is still unknown whether OPPO will introduce its own chipset first to its entry-level or mid-range phones, or whether it will do so gradually. In the Android market, Qualcomm currently leads in terms of chip performance and efficiency for smartphones. But MediaTek is gaining ground, and its Density 9000 series chips have proven to be quite effective.

Samsung, which once ranked second in the market for Android smartphone chipsets, has slipped. In comparison to their MediaTek and Qualcomm counterparts, the Exynos 2100 and Exynos 2200 chips have not been as power-efficient. Exynos chipset GPUs are also not as powerful, and under prolonged load, they throttle quickly.

The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is the first device in the Galaxy A series to receive the January 2023 security update. Samsung recently released its most recent security update for the Galaxy Note 10 series and the Galaxy S21 series.

The most recent Galaxy A73 software update is currently being distributed in Malaysia, and we anticipate it to spread to other nations in the coming days. The new update raises the firmware version of the phone to A736BXXS2BVL3. Although Samsung hasn’t specified which security flaws the new security patch addresses, it may cover most of those addressed in Google’s January 2023 security patch as well as some additional flaws discovered in Galaxy devices.

You can immediately install the new update if you own a Galaxy A73 and live in Malaysia. You can do that by selecting Download and install under Settings » Software update. You can also manually flash the new firmware by downloading the file from our firmware database.

Early in 2022, the Galaxy A73 was released with Android 12 preinstalled. A few weeks ago, Samsung released the One UI 5.0 update for the smartphone, which is based on Android 13. Three additional Android OS updates will be provided for the device in the future, as promised by the South Korean company. As a result, Samsung MX (a manufacturer of smartphones) made the decision to establish its own chipset development division with top engineers.
