Osho Dham celebrates Osho Enlightenment Day with Universal Pause – Between Two Breaths Special performance by Maa Atmo Zia followed by Five days of celebration of life and joy
Osho Dham Delhi celebrates Osho Enlightenment Day (Sambodhi Diwas), a five-day event from March 21st to 25th, 2024, with the festivities kicking off on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024 at 6:30pm. Sambodhi, the ultimate awakening, is the pinnacle of spiritual realization. It is when one experiences a state of pure consciousness, free from the illusions of the mind, and attains liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
The five day event will include a soul-stirring performance by Ma Atmo Zia. Zia studied Gurdjieff Sacred Dances at the Osho Commune in Puna in 1995 and thereafter travelled to America and Europe over several years to study the sufi work and the sacred dances under world renowned teachers of the Gurdjieff – Bennett tradition. With the influence of sufi musicians and the understanding of Sufi music and Osho’s guidance, Zia self-trained as a whirling practitioner, teacher and performer.
Swami Ravindra Bharti’ chose to walk in the path of inner calling after being initiated by his Master four decades ago. He wishes to share his Master’s vision of enriching the inner and outer way of living and making the world a much happier place.
This event promises a transformative experience through movement, music, and meditation, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore their inner selves. Hosted at Osho Dham, Osho Dhyan Mandir, located at 44, Jhatikra Road, Pandwala Khurd, Near Najafgarh, New Delhi, Universal Pause – Between Two Breaths will be a vibrant blend of activities.
Activities such as dance, live keertan (devotional chanting), laughter meditation, silent meditation and discourses on Osho’s teachings will engage sanyasins from around the globe. One of the highlights of the celebration is Zia’s unique dance creation, where she intricately fuses elements from Gurdjieff Sacred Dances, Sufi whirling, and Odissi Indian Classical dance.

Osho Enlightenment Day is celebrated on March 21st. On this significant day, Osho, the spiritual teacher and mystic, described his enlightenment experience in his own words:
“I AM REMINDED OF THE FATEFUL DAY of twenty-first March, 1953. For many lives I had been working – working upon myself, struggling, doing whatsoever can be done – and nothing was happening. Now I understand why nothing was happening. The very effort was the barrier, the very ladder was preventing, the very urge to seek was the obstacle. Not that one can reach without seeking. Seeking is needed, but then comes a point when seeking has to be dropped. The boat is needed to cross the river but then comes a moment when you have to get out of the boat and forget all about it and leave it behind.
Effort is needed, without effort nothing is possible. And also only with effort, nothing is possible. Just before twenty-first March, 1953, seven days before, I stopped working on myself. A moment comes when you see the whole futility of effort. You have done all that you can do and nothing is happening. You have done all that is humanly possible. Then what else can you do? In sheer helplessness one drops all search. And the day the search stopped, the day I was not seeking for something, the day I was not expecting something to happen, it started happening. A new energy arose – out of nowhere. It was not coming from any source. It was coming from nowhere and everywhere. It was in the trees and in the rocks and the sky and the sun and the air – it was everywhere.
And I was seeking so hard, and I was thinking it was very far away. And it was so near and so close. Just because I was seeking I had become incapable of seeing the near. Seeking is always for the far, seeking is always for the distant – and it was not distant. I had become far-sighted, I had lost the near-sightedness. The eyes had become focused on the far away, the horizon, and they had lost the quality to see that which is just close, surrounding you.”
Osho’s enlightenment experience serves as a powerful reminder that sometimes, the very seeking we engage in can hinder us from recognizing the truth that is already within us.
