Homegrown and foreign streaming providers are investing in back-end technology to supply high-quality audio-visual material and shooting programmes in premium formats like 4K HDR as India’s online viewership grows and shifts to large TV screens.

Companies are partnering with smart TV companies to deliver television and movies in high-definition formats to their audiences.

Streaming Telugu service Aha has launched a Gold package that will stream videos in 4K resolution, which is four times the resolution of standard video, as well as Dolby, which is noted for improved colour, contrast, and brightness on the screen.

Hoichoi, a Bengali video-on-demand platform, partnered with Dolby Atmos earlier this month for a better audio experience. Netflix has previously invested in features such as 4K, HDR, and Dolby Atmos.

“Audiences have acquired a penchant for viewing content on bigger displays to mimic the larger-than-life experience at home, with movie theatres closing down in the disease outbreak and video streaming emerging as the primary form of entertainment.” “Hoichoi’s chief operating officer, Soumya Mukherjee, said as much.

“Audiences can have that community experience in their homes by watching content on a huge screen.” People are increasingly driven to consume content on a larger device as a result of this behavioural shift “he stated

Mukherjee said that the platform, which is available on devices such as Amazon Firestick, Android TV, Apple TV, Mi LED TV, LG SMART TV, Samsung TV, and Roku, has begun streaming marquee properties such as Feludar Goyedagiri, Darjeeling Jawmjawmat, Mandaar, Rudrabinar Obhishaap, and Mahabharat Murders, with enhanced sound and all shows in HD (high definition), has started streaming marquee properties

During the pandemic, television became the sole source of amusement, according to Baskar Subramanian, co-founder and CEO of Amagi, a media technology company.

“As more people want to watch content on networked TVs with larger screens, the standard for content quality in terms of resolution has risen,” he explained. The company is assisting content creators and platforms in meeting these needs by providing tech-based supporting systems that improve the end-user experience, such as cloud-based solutions with ultra-high-definition resolution.

Dolby Atmos surround sound has been added to the content on linked TVs by Amagi. The company has been working on providing optimum bandwidths so that users with various internet connections may access high-quality content.

Delivering a fantastic Netflix (watching) experience, according to a Netflix spokeswoman, is equally as vital as providing great content.

“Netflix is available on over 1,700 internet-connected devices around the world.” “Our focus is on offering a terrific product experience for our members—one that is always improving and gives an outstanding viewing experience as well as recommendations personalised to their preferences,” the person added.

Indian films such as Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mai are available in 4K HDR around the world, while Netflix’s Yeh Ballet was the first Indian film to be broadcast in Dolby Vision in 2020.
