– Organised and Hosted by TAS, the conference included mock Lok Sabha debates that helped students achieve better listening and articulation skills

The Academy School, Pune, hosted a major conference of the India International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) wherein over 200 delegates attended the event at the school campus. The three-day event concluded on June 23 amidst a roaring response from the delegates.
The conference was an amalgamation of diverse activities and learning. The conference helped students acquire better listening skills and learn articulation skills from the esteemed guests and a variety of activities.
Among the prominent presence at the conference, best-selling author Akshat Gupta and Dr. Pawan Dwivedi, Professor at the renowned Parul University graced the conference and interacted with TAS students to provide a fresh perspective. Esteemed guests also included Deputy Mayor of Pune Sunita Wadekar and Deputy Commissioner of Police (IPS) of Pune R Raja.
Author Akshat Gupta, famous for his book ‘The Hidden Hindu’, conducted impactful conversations on cultural history and explained the difference between ‘myth’ology and ‘satya’logy (derived from myths and truths). Dr Pawan Dwivedi enlightened the students and attendees about the importance of happiness in our culture and the need to redeem it.
The conference also included rigorous discussions including the Lok Sabha debate on the Representation of People Act 1951, the Indian Premier League mega auction, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the crisis committee of Ramayana. Each participating delegate represented a country, team, or character, depending on the debate and committee.
“Through exposure to a variety of discussions and debates, the students were exposed to a broader outlook. It will help them become an aware global citizen. It is a landmark achievement for TAS and the students. The conference opens up new doors of opportunities for the students to explore maximum possibilities,” said Indira Ramachandran, Principal, TAS.
IIMUN conference aims to empower youth by enabling them to solve glocal problems individually and empower the generation. TAS Pune is an ICSE school that follows the Finland education pedagogy and believes in the school’s motto of being ‘Happy at School’ through unconventional and modern teaching.
