Passionate in Marketing caught up with Mr. Shiva Bhavani, CEO & Founder of Wing Communications

    1. For our readers and young entrepreneurs please tell us about your humble self and business.

My name is Shiva Bhavani, the CEO, and Founder of Wing Communications. I am a business development professional with a B.Sc in Computer Science and a Masters in Business Administration. Before navigating the road to becoming an entrepreneur, I worked as a marketing executive in MovingDneedle and business development lead in various companies like ClicQA and Team Pumpkin. I have contributed to the expansion of numerous businesses by doing everything from generating qualified leads to managing teams and developing training materials. Eventually, after a sufficient experience, I was inspired to embark on my journey of finding Wing Communications. My journey to starting an agency has been nothing short of a roller coaster, but with tenacity and determination, I have overcome every obstacle in my way and created Wing Communications. These challenges certainly bore the sweetest fruits for me, as today I am the proud team leader at Wing Communications, a company that partners with more than 40 businesses to manage their PR and digital marketing.

    2. How did you build up an entrepreneurial spirit at such a young age?

Today, we are living in the greatest era of startups, unicorns and entrepreneurs. The country is getting its own version of a dot-com bust 2.0, where money is so readily available (also referred to as the Age of Unicorn) and anybody can get in on the “become-an-entrepreneur game”. But it was the bloom of the dot-com era in the late 90s to early 2000s that paved the way for all these endeavors. And being a millennial and witnessing it all firsthand, ignited the fire of entrepreneurial spirit in me at a very young age. I have always been a passionate and free-spirited person and with a zeal for adventure and new ideas flooding my mind, I knew I had to do something different. I believe that being an entrepreneur is a constant mix of Sturm und Drang and new adventures every day, and if you love what you do, it’s even more fun.

    3. What were the main challenges you faced at the early stages of your business and the industry challenges you are facing right now?

The difficulties of operating a business are all too well known to business owners. My journey’s biggest challenge—and biggest source of inspiration—was having to build something from scratch without much direction. This, along with little funds and resources, resulted in restless nights and extreme stress. But when I see the results of my work, none of it matters. These difficulties gave rise to Wing Communications, which is just one year old and has already amassed 40+ national and international clients. My vivacious team and I have had the good fortune to have articles about us published in respected publications like Indian Television, Financial Express and Social Samosa. Wing Communications is carving out a niche for itself in the crowded digital industry despite the presence of many competitors by offering a wide range of services to clients irrespective of boundaries.

So far, it has been an eventful journey but challenges are constant and will always be there. In 2021, I started Wing Communications to address the market gap where businesses can avail communication with their targeted audience. But the world of startups is a violent one and not strange to a myriad of challenges. The competitive environment keeps the startups like us on our toes, and there is no margin of error available. So, in order to survive in this competitive business environment that covers both traditional and online businesses, our focus stays on playing aggressively and keeps on punching above the weight to gain the much-needed recognition amongst the clusters of ever challenging and expanding businesses.

    4. Being just a year-old company, how is Wing Communications adapting and evolving with the time?

More than ever before, consumers expect brands to deliver on more than just the apparent. In order to meet these demands, innovation, and establishing an impactful presence in the field of digital marketing and PR, are the founding stones of Wing Communications. Today, Wing Communications is more than just an advertising company or a creative agency; it goes above and beyond mediocrity by providing solutions that incorporate original concepts, unmatched capabilities, and transformative business outcomes.

You must have heard about the term “Survival is about being the fittest”, as Darwin taught us, but in the world of startups, we also knew being fit for your environment requires the ability to evolve. Along the journey, we hit many speed bumps and changed direction a few times along the way and got spectacularly wrong and right outcomes, it all came from the ability to take challenges and mold our actions as per requirement. As long as our product is fitting the gap and is adaptable to the changes, we know we’ll keep on surviving and thriving in the sea of businesses.

    5. How will the current advancements like Metaverse & AI transform digital marketing?

The dystopian world of fantasy is finally becoming real and not only digital marketing but every sector potentially will be at the receiving end of it. It comes as no surprise that this novel idea has gained so much attention and approximately 85 million users experienced AR or VR at least once a month last year. So, the only appropriate response to it is to walk along with it as the marketing landscape will change dramatically as we learn to use new mediums like virtual, augmented, and mixed realities to reach consumers. To be successful, startups and brands must put these cutting-edge technologies first and connect with prospects in previously unimaginable ways.

The metaverse and the digital marketing business are engaged in a match but as opposed to fighting each other, both are striving to transform together.

    6. What is your competitive advantage and why can’t it be copied?

As a startup founder, you may believe that your company has a unique selling proposition and follows a new and unique approach. However, with time the market will have other entrants, so you should not only make sure to differentiate yourself in the beginning, but also in the future. So while laying the foundation of Wing Communications I made sure to give my services, products and services a personality – that one thing that sets them apart from the competition. And regardless of the change in a calendar year, strategies, platforms, tools and techniques, the foundation doesn’t change. In a world that seems to evolve at warp speed, perhaps it’s always good to be reminded that the better defined your personality (your brands and services), the more successful you’ll be in your marketing efforts.

    7. If you could describe being an entrepreneur in one sentence, what would it be?

“As long as you’re going to be thinking anyway, think big.”- Donald Trump
