Passwords are a problematic situation. They try to protect our various accounts from attackers. But Apple with some other big names in the tech industry is preparing to implement a new kind of protection for the login process.

This fall, when the Apple users will get iOS 16 and macOS Ventura updates. They will be able to log in to different accounts using their passkeys.

In this method, nothing is stored on the servers. So, attackers can’t steal anything. The verification process is purely dependent upon your own device.

At first, you will visit your desired website. Then, the website will ask you for your username. In the third step, you will have the option to enable the passkey process for that account. In this process, once you click the username area of the website. After that, your apple device will ask you to verify your identity. This verification is done using the Face ID on your iPhone. On the iPad and Mac, it can be done through touch ID.

So, this process eliminates the need for a password. Until today, we have to enter the password with our username to log in to any account on any website.

The passwords are easier to crack. In spite, of various warnings to users. Many people still use the same password for many accounts. It makes an account insecure. If an attacker gets his hands on one of your passwords, then he will also gain access to other accounts. So, for this particular reason, many users are at risk as attackers leak data like the login details of various users on the internet from time to time. It is done after the breach of security in various big corporations. For example, in the past, we have seen a breach of security of data of eBay.

This method is also useful on other non-apple devices. Suppose you are trying to log in to an account on your Windows PC. At that time, the website will ask you for permission to verify your identity using your Apple device.

Now, passkeys will keep your accounts safe. It will keep your account a bit safer. The acceptance of this process will depict the success of this method in the future.
