Payal Ghosh slams Bollywood director for fat-shaming her, talks about dealing with anxiety, stress and self-doubt

Payal Ghosh is one of the most admired and prettiest actresses in the Indian entertainment industry. After having enjoyed her share of success and fame in the South regional entertainment industry, Payal Ghosh ventured in Bollywood where she’s worked with some wonderful individuals, especially the legendary late Rishi Kapoor. Right now, Payal is receiving a lot of love and appreciation for her role in Fire Of Love: Red and no brownie points for guessing that her on-screen chemistry with Krushna Abhishek was appreciated by one and all. After having enjoyed the success, Payal kept herself busy auditioning for different projects. However, a recent harrowing experience has shattered her mentally and emotionally to a great extent. During a recent audition for a film with a big A-lister director, Payal revealed that she was ridiculously fat-shamed for her weight. The actress reveals the tragic experience and shares,

“Just when I was thinking that our industry is slowly getting better when it comes to empowering women of all shapes and sizes, something or the other happens that breaks my heart and notion. An audition is supposed to be judging your acting skills, not your weight. Yes, you can always say that your present weight doesn’t fit the requirement of my character and hence we cannot have you. There’s a way to say things. But a director recently just shooed me away from his office and literally shut the door on my face. I was told ki ‘pehele kam se kam 25 kg weight kam kar phirr audition dene aana.’ I have been dealing with a prolactin hormonal condition and that’s the reason behind my weight fluctuation. Everytime I expect humanity in our industry, my notion is broken. I don’t have a problem in getting rejected. That’s fine. But where on earth is grace and basic politeness? Is it too much to expect when you are someone who’s been in the entertainment industry for so many years? May no other actress get treated this way for trying to find work honestly. It’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Well, kudos to Payal for still being strong and healthy through this situation and rising like a phoenix from the ashes after such a disturbing experience. May God give Payal all the power and courage on Earth. Stay tuned for more updates.
