Oct 3, 2012: Philips, one of the largest consumer electronics firm will begin exporting its solar LED lights which is developed in India to neighbouring countries by next year. The Indian arm of the electronics firm which developed the solar LED lights at its R&D center in Noida aims to target the rural market where electricity facility has not yet reached.
Currently the company is installing 19,000 solar LED lights in Tamil Nadu state in association with Tata solar and Su-kam. The Indian lighting market is estimated to be Rs 9000 crore and Philips hold a 30% of the market as per the company officials.
