Polycab India Ltd, India’s leading electrical goods manufacturer, partnered with National Federation of Engineers for Electrical Safety (NFE) in an instrumental launch of the “Electrical Safety Handbook for Students” at the forum organised by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) on June 26, 2024.
The handbook, a comprehensive guide, was prepared by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the Ministry of Power in association with the National Federation of Engineers for Electrical Safety (NFE), All-India Electrical Safety Awareness Programme and supported by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). It was launched by Chief Guest Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson of the CEA. This Polycab-sponsored resource is set to become an invaluable tool for students, educators, and parents across the nation.
This initiative underscores Polycab’s commitment to fostering a safety-first culture among India’s youth. The company’s sponsorship of the handbook aligns perfectly with this year’s theme, “Safety Starts from School,” emphasizing the crucial role of early education in electrical safety.
The event, held in collaboration with NFE and supported by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), saw participation from over 150 industry representatives and more than 50 students from various Delhi schools. It marked the beginning of the National Electrical Safety Week (NESW).
In his keynote address, Shri Ghanshyam Prasad highlighted the importance of raising electrical safety awareness among the general public, especially students. He commended Polycab’s efforts in sponsoring the handbook, noting that such initiatives are crucial in empowering youth to create safer environments at home, school, and beyond.

Mahipal Singh, Principal Chief Engineer, CEA; Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General, NPTI; Ms Rishika Sharan, CEI, CEA; Sh A K Maharana, Head, ETD, BIS; and Sh Anil Jauhri, Adviser-NFE & Former CEO, NABCB also addressed the participants on importance of Electrical Safety.
