New Delhi, 5th March – After two years of virtual events, Pravah, a youth development organisation, is back with the on-ground edition of Music for Harmony. This is an annual youth festival co-created by youth volunteers of Pravah. Having gone through powerful learning and leadership journeys, the festival is an expression of their shared resolve to spread inspiration, hope, and harmony in the world. And what better tool to evoke collective resonance than music and arts. The festival will commence at 2 pm on 5th March 2022, Delhi Haat, New Delhi.
This year’s theme celebrates the Stories of Hope (Umeed ki Kahaniyan), where young people will come together and share their amazing journeys through art and music. The event is set to host a number of exciting activities welcoming diversity and young artists from varied backgrounds, some of which include community-based artists like the youth band KPC Rockers from Kathputli colony, Ekyantarang, the dance group bringing in traditional performances, and popular indie artist and youth icon Salman Elahi.
Ritikaa Khunnah, CEO-Pravah expressing the need for youth co-led spaces said, “Our young people hold immense potential and it’s our duty to ensure there are spaces that can nurture and unlock this potential in the best way possible. The main focus of such events like Music for Harmony, is to co-create intergenerational spaces where young people can express themselves, lead and work together and celebrate each other’s journey”.
Salman Elahi, a celebrated Singer-Songwriter and former Pravah Volunteer describing his experience said, “Pravah holds a special place in my life as I started my performance journey here. I’ve met a lot of wonderful people and artists through Pravah and during my time working here, I’ve learned a lot about the gist of life, helping people, and about myself. I consider this place my home and these people are my extended family.”
Pravah strongly believes that creating spaces for authentic expression and connections through art and music, can create hope amongst you(th) and spread peace and harmony. Marking 20 successful years since young people from Pravah first came together at Dilli Haat to promote dialogue and the value of peace and well-being during times of violence, isolation and disconnection, The Delhi-based organisation encourages people of all ages to witness these stories of hope and resilient community action during the pandemic.
