From the initial reports, it is clear that the HTC Butterfly 2 is the successor to the Butterfly that was launched in late 2012. The latest handset comes pre-installed with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system that can sail through effectively with hardware aspects such as a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset and 2 GB of RAM. On the storage front, the device comes in two variants – one with 16 GB and the other with 32 GB of internal storage capacities. Both these models support expandable storage support up to 128 GB using a micro SD card.

When it comes to photography, the Butterfly 2 borrows some camera aspects from the company’s flagship smartphone One M8. We say this as the new device includes a duo-camera setup with a 13 MP primary snapper at its back with dual LED flash and a 5 MP front-facing selfie camera.

For users to stay connected seamlessly, HTC has given the handset connectivity features such as Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, micro USB with MHL, IR Blaster 3G and 4G LTE. Also, there is a 2,700 mAh battery under its hood that can render a talk time of up to 23.9 hours on 3G networks and a standby time of 643 hours.

Like the other high-end smartphones that are being launched in the current trend, the HTC Butterfly 2 features a water resistant build with the IPX5 and IPX7 ratings. The Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS is topped with the Sense 6.0 UI that has Motion Launch advanced sensor for an unparallel user experience and BoomSound technology for an immersive and crystal clear sound output. Also, the handset features “LiveStage Signal Processing Technology” and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) that combine with the exclusively designed JBL in-ear-headphones for a vivid sound experience. The handset has dual frontal stereo speakers for a truly high definition experience.
