Bengaluru, 6th November 2023: The highly anticipated screening of “Project Tiger,” a feature-length documentary by filmmakers Rohit Varma and Kalyan Varma, Nature inFocus, that shares the extraordinary untold story of India’s audacious mission to save a global icon from extinction, was an unforgettable and magical experience for a houseful of 1500 plus people at Marakata, Chamara Vajra, Jayamahal, Bengaluru.   

Thunder and lightning joined in as the movie screened under the starlit sky. Viewers were treated to a unique cinematic journey that left them in awe. The documentary’s breathtaking visuals and compelling storytelling, combined with the special performance by the Indian Ocean after the screening, created an unforgettable evening that celebrated the majestic tigers and India’s conservation journey.  The evening also saw the launch of ‘ Tiger Tiger Burning Bright” a coffee table book by Yashpal Rathore and Vijay Mohan Raj that saw Project Tiger through stunning photographs and never-before-seen imagery. 

The leading production house specializing in stories from the natural world – Nature inFocus, showcased untold aspects of India’s flagship conservation initiative, “Project Tiger,” which has become the largest and most ambitious conservation project in history. The documentary delves into the past to understand why and how we reached a state where the majestic tiger became almost extinct and elaborates on how India rallied its people to support the cause to save this global iconic species from extinction, overcome several challenges and in turn saved not just the tiger but the larger ecosystem.  From almost losing all our tigers to becoming the only country to run a project like this for the past 50 years and counting, this documentary captures the complete story and is a compelling call to action.    

Backed by The Sandur Manganese and Iron Ores Limited, Discovery Village and Rainmatter Foundation, the documentary reveals the hidden story of this remarkable endeavor, showcasing a narrative filled with scandal, intrigue, and political and social conflict at the heart of India’s democracy.
