The eighth edition of the IPL (Indian Premier League) has started and several brands getting involved in the same. Quick service brands including Goli Vada Pav, Café Coffee Day and Faaso’s are cashing in on the crowds at its mega event such as an additional revenue stream.
Goli Vada Pav based in Mumbai is setting up six stalls across the seven matches that are held in Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy stadium where the event will be held. Also, there are four delivery boys in every stall are aimed to hawk food to the viewers right at their seats. Notably, this is the third year that Goli Vada Pav is taking part in the IPL season.
Regarding this, Venkatest S, Co-Founder and CEO of Goli Vada Pav claimed that the firm managed to sell 21,000 vada pavs last year and it is targeting to sell around 40,000 vada pavs this time. It will be selling only a couple of products during the IPL season and they are the classic vada and soya vada.
The firm has been brought into the IPL season by the coffee shop chain Café Coffee Day. Notably, Café Coffee Day is the master franchisee for the event. As of now, there is no official word regarding the tie-up with Goli Vada Pav.
On the other hand, Faaso’s has teamed up with the Chennai Super Kings team to reach to the residents in the city making them aware of the mobile app of Faaso’s. The firm started its operations in Chennai this month and it will let the viewers to order directly from their app and the food will be delivered to their seats at the venue.
Previously, Faaso’s tied up with teams such as Pune Warriors and Mumbai Indians in the years 2013 and 2014 respectively. The firm generated a good response by receiving 1,200 orders per match during the IPL.
Besides generating revenue, the mega event helps the food brands to sample new items and market itself as a long term strategy to generate traffic to their outlets after the event.
