Quikr, the online classified company has come up with a new vertical for the local services called QuikrServices. As of now, this platform lists home service providers across eleven categories such as repairs, tiffin services, home help, internet installations, etc. across 16 cities.
Previously, Quikr was listing these services as a part of its general classifieds platform. Now, it has enhanced its database with better categorization and provides on-call assistance in order to connect to the service providers. Also, there is a dashboard to make the conversations and also to track them in the new specialized platform.
QuikrServices now joins the other verticals that are a part of Quikr including QuikrHomes, Quikr-Cars, QuikrC2C and QuikrJobs. These verticals were launched by the company in the past few months. The Head of QuikrServices, PD Sundar, stated that they have a lot of users who transact across the platform and they know a lot. So, the company has customized their service offerings in the recommendations front.
There is adequate cross-sell opportunity and it helps in building a robust business model. It also helps the company render a one-stop solution to the users giving them a delightful experience, he added.
The local services were an active area in the last few years with around 446 companies having their business established in this space. It attracts an investment of around $222.9 million. Of this, home services get $13.3 million as per Tracxn!.
The launch of QuikrServices comes shortly after the reports started that the e-commerce giant Amazon is all set to make a strategic investment in the area of local service with the startup Housejoy. There are sources claiming that Snapdeal is also planning to come up with such an investment in the local services segment of India. However, it seems that the existing startups in this domain remain unaffected due to the investments made by the e-commerce firms.
