The iconic actors come together to celebrate their love for chicken in KFC India’s new Double Down Burger campaign film

 New Delhi, 27th July 2021: Love for chicken, especially KFC chicken, is unlike any other. And a true KFC chicken-lover would indulge in that bit of badtameezi – all for the love of chicken. Seema Pahwa displays her unabashed love for chicken in the new campaign film for Double Down Burger by KFC India, as Ratna Pathak Shah reacts with her characteristic eye roll. But then, the mighty crispy, all chicken no bun Double Down Burger is what chicken dreams are made of. The film, conceptualized by Ogilvy & Mather India, brings together the veteran actors in a rib-tickling (and honestly very relatable) situation – all for the love of KFC’s Double Down burger. And may we add – Isme hai upar chicken, neeche bhi chicken, to Seemaji, ab dhoondna nahi padega chicken! 

Fellow chicken-lover Moksh Chopra, Chief Marketing Officer, KFC India, said, “Who could understand chicken love better than us? And as the maker of the World’s Tastiest Chicken, we very gladly take on the onus of fulfilling as many chicken dreams of KFC fans as possible. With its all-chicken and no bun construct, the launch of the Double Down Burger is THE biggest event in the history of burgerkind. It was only befitting then that this ultimate burger be launched by none other than iconic actors Ratna Pathak Shah and Seema Pahwa. Their on-screen chemistry and the peculiar exchange over a chicken conversation is bound to leave you in splits. Of course, Colonel Sanders intervenes with the delectable Double Down Burger in his signature style with a rock band assuring – ‘Jo Chicken Ke Liye Hai Badtameez, Unke Liye Hai Yeh Special Cheez.’”

Adds Ritu Sharda, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy (North), “We all have that one badtameez friend who eats all the chicken from a dish and leaves the gravy or chawal for the rest. This film shows one such lovingly badtameez person and how KFC’s Double Down, being all chicken, is truly meant for those who are ‘chicken ke liye badtameez’.”

The campaign film opens with Seema Pahwa & Ratna Pathak Shah at a dinner gathering, with Seema venting to Ratna about someone’s audacious behaviour as, ironically, she serves herself all the chicken from the noodle dish. Nodding understandingly during the conversation, Ratna Pathak watches wide-eyed as the pieces of chicken disappear quickly onto Seema’s plate while she seemingly waits to serve herself next.

As the last piece of chicken is also picked away by Seema, Ratna lets an unmistakable eye-roll slip as she reinstates to Seema – badtameezi to hai! Enter Colonel Sanders in all his swagger, presenting Seema with the Double Down Burger kyuki Jo Chicken Ke Liye Hai Badtameez, Unke Liye Hai Yeh Special Cheez.

Talking about the film, actor Ratna Pathak Shah says, “I am an ardent foodie myself and can relate to the way Seema’s character was possessive about the chicken in the noodles. KFC’s Double Down Burger is indeed a unique burger with a chicken overload – just right for serious foodies. I enjoyed being a part of the campaign and watching the chicken wars.”
