RBI starts a new round of regularly study on manufacturing industry

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) starts its latest round of regular surveys on the manufacturing sector.  The survey gives important valuable input for monetary policy articulation which is pointed out by the RBI while declaring the launch of the 54th round of the survey. Through this quarter, some selected manufacturing industries will be talked to by the RBI. The RBI will later announce the results concerning the January-March 2021 quarter.

The Reserve Bank of India on last day pointed out that it has launched the new round of its quarterly (OBICUS) Order Books, Inventories and Capacity Utilisation Survey of the manufacturing industry and the outcomes of which are utilised in monetary policy formulation. The Reserve Bank (RBI) has been organising the OBICUS of the manufacturing industry on a regular or quarterly basis since 2008. And this survey helps to give valuable inputs for monetary policy articulation, the RBI expresses while declaring the launch of the 54th round of the survey.

For this survey, a lot of information was collected. And that information obtained in the survey contains quantitative data on the latest orders collected during the reference quarter and excess of orders at the rise of the quarter, pending orders, total inventories with a separation connecting of finished goods (FG), work-in-progress (WiP) and raw material (RM) inventories, amid others.

Through this quarter, the selected manufacturing industries are approached by the Reserve Bank of India. And the RBI will later release the results concerning the January-March 2021 quarter. The RBI on Tuesday said it has started the latest round of its quarterly Order Books, Inventories and Capacity Utilisation Survey (OBICUS) of the manufacturing industry and the overall result of which are used in monetary policy formulation. The survey results are published on the website of the Bank daily. The latest results concerning the quarter January-March 2021 will be released shortly. Some Other manufacturing industries may also level of capacity utilisation (CU) is estimated from these responses. The survey provides valuable input for monetary policy formulation in the survey by downloading the survey questionnaire from the Reserve Bank’s website. According to the level of capacity utilisation (CU) is calculated from these responses. The survey gives valuable input for the formulation of monetary policy.
