Jan 14, 2013: Recently a lot of activity in the entertainment space has been seen targeting the Bhojpuri population. Bhojpuri movies are already a big hit in that region with even bigger names like Amitabh Bachhan getting associated with the movies. Some leading production houses have also announced movies in the regional language.
Now it’s the turn of Television channels to focus on Bhojpuri language. Reliance Broadcast Network which owns the channel Big Magic has diversified into Bhojpuri language by starting their new channel exclusively for Bhojpuri audience which is said to have 110 million people, “Big Magic Bihar and Jharkhand”. The channel will penetrate into larger markets like Ranchi, Jamshedpur and also smaller markets. The channel which will be available on Reliance Digital TV can also be viewed on Maurya, DEN and other local cable networks.
