Reliance Jio is expected to launch its 5G services in India during its 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will take place on the 29th of August. It is also rumored that Reliance Jio will announce its 5G phone – JioPhone 5G – at the event. The telecom company headed by Mukesh Ambani has been working on its 5G services for quite some time now.
To start, Jio 5G is expected to release in 13 cities only. This list may include Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Gurugram, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Jamnagar. In the recently held spectrum auction, Jio was the highest bidder, especially in the 700Hz band.
Jio’s 45th AGM is going to be a virtual event, just like last year. It is expected that the telecom will make announcements related to Reliance Jio’s future, Reliance Digital, and the Oil to Chemical unit (O2C). The company might also put its Jio platform in IPO in the coming times, according to some speculations.
What to expect in JioPhone 5G?
Another major announcement that is expected to be made at the event is the launch of Jio’s first 5G phone – JioPhone 5G. According to online reports, Jio will develop the smartphone in collaboration with Google. It is expected to come with a big 6.5-inch screen and an HD+ display. There might also be an IPS display with a refresh rate of 60Hz.
JioPhone 5G is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G SoC. It may come with 4GB RAM and have an internal storage capacity of 32GB. The device may likely run on the company’s own PragatiOS and feature a 5,000mAh battery. The smartphone is expected to come with an 18-watt charging adapter, with a USB Type-C charging port.
The smartphone will likely come with Jio apps as well as Google Play Services built-in. With regards to the camera, JioPhone 5G is expected to have a 13MP+2MP dual-sensor rear camera. The pricing of the smartphone is likely to be under Rs. 10,000.
