Nov 27, 2012: According to a latest study conducted by Nielsen, the sale of children’s books has increased by nearly 17% in India which shows the increasing number of young readers in the country. The children’s books market in India which is estimated to be Rs. 100 crore has seen a 22% increase in value year on year in period starting from January to November. Children’s books now account for a major share of sales and it is estimated that nearly 30 to 40% of total sales of well known publishers like Penguin books are children’s books. This positive change is being attributed to increased encouragement from parents and schools and also availability of books through different mediums.
