Oct 26, 2014: The South Korea based tech giant Samsung has announced the launch of its second generation phablet in the Galaxy Mega lineup, Galaxy Mega 2 in India. The device has been released here with a price tag of Rs 20,900 and it is available in the official online e-Store of Samsung.
Prior to the launch in India, the Galaxy Mega 2 was launched in the Malaysian market for MYR 1,299 (approx. Rs 24,700). Later, the device went official inThailand, but there were no details regarding its pricing and availability.
Detailing on the technical specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2, the phablet boasts of a spacious 6 inch TFT HD display that carries a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It is incorporated with a quad-core processor of unspecified chipset that is clocked at 1.2 GHz. Furthermore, this processor is coupled with a 1.5 GB of RAM similar to that in the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 respectively that were launched last year.
Based on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, the latest Samsung offering is packed with 16 GB of native storage capacity. For those who require more storage capacity, there is a micro SD card slot that assists in expanding the storage by another 64 GB.
On the imaging front, the Galaxy Mega 2 comes equipped with an 8 MP primary snapper with LED flash for a better low light performance. Also, there is a 2.1 MP selfie shooter that will take charge of making video calls and clicking selfies respectively.
The connectivity features onboard the phablet are 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS with GLONASS, NFC and Bluetooth along with dual SIM functionality. A 2,800 mAh battery powers sufficient backup to the Galaxy Mega 2 as it is teamed up with Ultra Power Saving Mode feature.
